Currently flying on QF2 from london to Brisbane via Singapore in Business (Potentially First as we've put in for the upgrade) and was wondering how early I can access the lounge?

We're flying into London from Paris that day and I don't want to risk not making it in time, so will likely be flying in quite a bit early.

Cheers :)

Depends on whether you need to check in your luggage at Heathrow. Check in only opens three hours in advance of your flight. If your luggage is checked through from Paris, then lucky days and you should be able to access the lounge earlier.
If you have Gold or Plat status with Qantas (or OW equivalents) I would recommend checking out the CX lounges first (especially for the showers), and then swing through the Qantas Lounge for a drink at the Gin Bar before heading onto QF2

Usually T-4 at LHR

As above if you're through checked from Paris then I would (and do) head straight to CX. In times past I'd visit the operating carrier's lounge in the last 30-60 minutes in case of any ;last minute changes to boarding/departure times but now I don't bother at LHR or HKG where I stay firmly implanted in CX hospitaility until as late as possible.

I've had a bit of hit and miss on that timing over the past few years. Certainly they're there at T-3 - any earlier, half the time I've been greeted by a screen telling me they will be open at a time, which is past the actual time I've been standing there

Hmm, we are yet to buy our Paris to London flight, having it already checked from Paris sounds like the way to go. I just jumped on the qantas site though and I can't seem to buy CDG to LHR? it accepts Paris in the first search box but then won't accept LHR in the second?

As you won’t have the flights on the same ticket, it is unlikely that you’ll be able to check in for both bookings at CDG, BA definitely won’t do it.

Try the multi city search

We had booked the CDG-LHR separately with BA, and it was not an issue - but our bags weren't checked through. We did have to go through immigration at LHR T5, get our bags and get over to T3 (via the Heathrow Express for free), and then recheck our bags. We had allowed sufficient time (about 4 hours). We did have nice hour in the CX Lounge at CDG, with the 'proper' champagne and noodle bar to get into the right frame of mind for the trip home (we were in Y).

I sadly won't have reached Gold status until after this leg (i'll be Silver at the time) that means CX is out of the equation right?

At CDG, yes. At LHR, If you're flying in J you should/might have access to the CX Lounge - check with the One World rules and the Brains Trust of the AFF group :)

Oneworld rules say that if you are on a short haul Y flight connecting to a long haul J flight, then yes, you can access the lounge prior to the short haul Y flight CDG-LHR.
QF10 leaves earlier at around lunchtime but I don't know if they will accept your checked luggage if the counters are open.

Two separate tickets are not always counted as "connecting" - OP could still be denied sameday Short/Long Haul access at CDG due to this.
