I wonder what the cheapest flights would be for a 3 nighter in SIN from SYD. Any suggestions?

AUD $1153-1220 on BA/QF

No cheaper doing one ways each way at the moment.
I can't see anything cheaper on any other mainstream airlines.
No doubt tiger etc may have some cheap options... maybe a split fare, Jet* to KUL and then hop over to SIN.

$1153 is non-stop if you want the best flights and not chaseing points etc.

Btw, why SIN ? a party ? i live here and can tell you just check hotels also before booking. Can be difficult at best to find hotels at a good price.

Evan, interested to see your comments re hotels. Some years ago it was so easy to find hotels in Singapore at a good price. Now they seem to be 50% to 100% more in price and hard to find.

Is there just great demand or a lack of new hotel rooms, or both?

When it was easy the hotels were not making a lot of money, hence not a lot of new hotels being built and now demand is up and so are prices.
There are some new 5* ones being built but that wont have too much impact i dont think.

Last year 2007 i was paying most of the time $170++ for 4 star places like holiday-inn, traders, gallery, novotel etc. Now thats more like 220++ in 2008.
But now i will stay in the intercontinental for SG $210-220 a night if its available at that price.

What you find is some weeks when fairs etc are on it just gets crazy ! but i try to book in advance to avoid the huge costs. Can always cancel at no cost on my bookings.

My gf is moving there for work next month and I'd like to surprise her in August. Jetstar to KUL return is about $730 with taxes, and the lowcost airlines charge about $50 each way between KUL and SIN but I can't find any KUL-SIN flights from 9pm onwards:confused: I'd hate to overnight in KL since I've only got 4 days for this trip.

If you have enough points for an award ticket, maybe get a SYD-SIN one way award, and purchase a return ticket ex-SIN on QF which is SG$688 plus taxes (which will work out to be like ~AU$880 all up rtn in Y).

If you did it this way, not only would you surprise her in August08, but you have a return flight back (up to 12 months from SIN-SYD flight) which you can surprise her yet again!!

KUL-SIN on JL722 (JAL) is at 21:35-22:50 @ SG145 one way.
KUL-SIN on SQ119 21:45
KUL-SIN on SQ5609 (MH609) 22:45

Thats about is after 9pm. from KUL to SIN.

If its not snooping, may i ask what your gf is doing here ?
I am sure she will love Singapore anyway. And if she wants some hints about the place feel free to ask here, there is a few of us that know SIN well.

Thanks for the flights. Will have a look at the prices. She's an accountant for a large multinational and she'll be working in their SG office. We were in SG earlier this year so we've sorta been around...and she's been sent there in the past on more than one occasion but mostly 1-3 week stints.

Also if its at all possible and your gf is staying a long time alanslegal's idea is probably the best idea, this is what i do. All my flights are ex-SIN when returning to MEL.

In the last 12 months i have done this flight a couple of times, twice it was dry, twice it was wet :) (Well i got a G+T anyway)
But you can hang out in the CX lounge and have a drink beforehand ;)
