Best way to get a discount business class flight. Direct with carrier or through a 3rd party?

For a one line question, you can get so many answers.

I'd put a third option: Research.

Start with online searches of some well known websites to identify the most aggressive carriers on your route. Then put it out to an aggressive third party and compare to the airline direct sites. The lazy "price guarantee' advertisers surprisingly will not offer up the best prices without your prompting.

Be flexible with your dates and routings.

My AUD two cents worth.
