Spirit have announced they will charge for CARRY ON luggage.

Passengers who are members of Spirit's $9 Fare Club will be charged $25 for a carry-on bag. Other passengers who pay the fee online will be charged $35 online, $40 over the phone, $50 at the airport ticket counter, and $100 if they get all the way to the gate before declaring their carry-on.
The Miramar, Fla.-based airline lets customers bring one free personal item on board if it fits under the seat.

Any guesses on who will take this up next? What else can we get charged for in fees. I feel a fee for using the airbridge or stairs is warranted. Perhaps a safety demonstration fee? And the old Ryan Air joke of Toilet fee.;)

My personal fee suggestion. A "departing on time" fee. If enough passengers pay you can leave on time.

I'm surprised Ryanair hasn't gone for this one.

I thought this was announced some time ago? Spirit are lethal on fees for everything.

Here are some other fee suggestions

"Screwage" fee - a $2 fee for bringing a bottle of water or soft drink onto the plane which you plan to drink whilst flying
Foodage fee - a $5 fee for bringing food onto the plane which you plan to eat whilst flying

(They could claim both these fees cover additional cleaning costs)

Reading light fee - a $1 fee for using the reading light (replacement bulbs aren't free you know)
FA call button fee - you get 1 free use of the FA call button, each additional time has a 50c fee attached (cover the time the FA needs to walk down to you which they could otherwise be serving other pax in)

Arrivals Card Fee - a $2 fee for receiving customs arrivals cards whilst still in the air, (most countries I've seen which require arrivals cards have them available at customs anyway or they could have a stack of them sitting next to the arrival gate rather than transporting them in the aircraft)

Seat recline fee - a $2 fee for reclining the seat (half goes to the pax behind)

So for a short flight, where the person has brought on board both a bottle of coke, and a biscuit, who plans to read to pass away the time, who wants to fill in their customs arrival card prior to landing, and who wants to recline their seat to get a bit of a sleep as well. Well that an extra $11 which the airline could have gotten from them, where the airline did not actually need to lift a finger.

Or should I not be giving airlines idea's

Wouldn't that be 'Screwage'? Seems like a more suitable name for a fee too ;)
