I am in a juggling effort to get platinum and have been receiving SCs from wife. She wont be flying for a month and in that time my adult daughter living with us will be flying VA to bali. Can I swap for a few weeks to pool from daughter then go back to wife pooling or does that breach the velocity rules of only 2 adults in the family pool?

If you are resident at the same address them it should not be a problem. It is possible that Velocity may ask for proof but thats less likely if your addresses have not changed on file for some time.

Not a problem - I have done this multiple times. You will need to "unpool" your wife first, before pooling your daughter.

Cheers I believe you can swap only twice. Is that per calendar year cor anniversary of your status

According to the FAQ' "A member can only contribute to one beneficiary at a time, but may have up to 2 beneficiaries in any calendar year. The beneficiary can only be assigned or changed from the logged in contributors account."

I can't recall if I have swapped more than 2 times in a calender year (probably have), but as I am always the beneficiary, the members (Mrs or Miss Aus ATC) only ever have one beneficiary (me) - its just that sometimes they don't have any beneficiary (usually when they are not accruing points :) ).

Likewise, I belive you can swop A pools to B/B pools to A as often as you like. A can also poll to C but then can't pool to D

Not sure where the '2' swaps came from. The doco and phone call to VA helpdesk says upto 5 changes in a calendar year.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to get complete confirmation on whether it's actually calendar or some other 12 month period. Also unclear as to whether it's 5 changes (and does unpooling count as a change?) or just 5 different people (where an unpool/repool even to the same person ends up counting as a change)

The ability to only do a certain number of changes in a year has stuffed me up in at least one year's planning for status.. (and resulted in a fair number of wasted status credits unfortunately..) - so worth planning ahead if possible

Thr T&Cs say up to 5 contributing accounts
Using my example above B, C, D, E and F can all pool to A (only 1 at a time unless under 18) during the calendar year
Each of A-F can only contribute TO two different accounts in a calendar year

I swap our family pooling around all the time. There is a limit of 5 points transfers per calendar year, (totally different transaction) but I have never seen family pooling subject to a limit.

Adults can only have one other person over 18 pooling to them. The person pooling may not be in another pool. You can have up to 3 children pooling, plus the one adult - hence the 5 person pool limit.

i think I am more confused:)
Basically we have 3 adults no kids in the one household. So i would think if only one adult is pooling at any one time it should be ok

I'm looking at swapping my family pooling between my partner and me to ensure we get platinum just under one year apart from each other (maximising the time at least one of us has platinum or gold after the soft fall back) but I have a question I haven't seen answered elsewhere:

While I know that eligible sectors do not pool, does an eligible sector flown still count towards that persons total? I.e. if my partner and I both fly, with points and SCs being pooled to me, do both of us get an eligible sector, or just me?

Your partner would get an eligible sector towards their total and you would get one for yours. If your partner is pooling to you and flys without you, they would earn an eligible sector for their total only.

Thank you! :)
