I'm currently living in Canada on a working visa and booked a return flight back in March when I came over with the intention of just changing my return flight to whenever I needed it. I've been trying to change it online via my frequent flyer account for about the past week but every time I enter all my details (including payment details) and click pay now, I get a 'Generic Error' message about the price can't be confirmed and to try another flight. I've done this for about 8 different flights on different days and keep getting the same error. I rang Qantas and they were going to try and charge me $550US ON TOP of what I'd already paid for the flight in the first place. Is anyone else getting these problems trying to book US-Aus flights?

i recently changed a return flight out of LAX ( booked in AUS)

I couldnt do it online as it simply didnt give me the option. I had to ring up and change it. Qantas tried to charge me both the $50 change fee and the $60 service fee. After me giving them a piece of my mind they dropped the service fee and charged just the change fee.

If they're trying to charge you USD550, then i assume they think you have booked the fare via the USA qantas site. Im assuming you booked it before you left australia, which means AUS fees apply (serfty correct me if im wrong).

Ive changed a number of flights from both US and EU ( all my flights are booked via the AUS site ) and ive never paid more than the $50 change fee (mind you this fee is $200 for the 'Sale Fare' so do becarefull inregards to what fare you purchased).

Good luck
