I made a domestic Qantas Red e Deal booking for 6 people but now one person has to change the date. Looking on the website, it seems I have to separate this passenger from the booking and then change at a cost of $88 (the new flight date is the same price as the original). I've never done this before and thought I'd check first just in case there's any way to avoid or reduce the fee. I originally paid using a Qantas gift voucher.

In general I think that will be the process. I've never done this before.

A couple of thoughts about things to try. Have you tried doing the change flight option from Manage My Booking? Is there the option to select only one passenger to change?

Otherwise, you'll probably have to call.

I can separate this one person from the booking online, (no charge that I can see) It creates a new booking number for that person. I then go into that new booking to create a change (for which there is a charge). I was just wondering if there were any other ways to avoid that charge for changing the date. However, the new flight I want is the same price as the old flight but they seem to be charging me a flight difference of $22 as well as the change fee, so I'm going to have to call them to enquire.

Update - apparently the $22 extra was for a change in taxes since I made the booking but the call centre adjusted this for me to the original cost. So only the $88 change fee to pay.

Misunderstood. No way to avoid the change fee in my experience. hopefully the cost saving by buy red-e-deals covers that anyway.
