Hi all,

In case anyone was wondering, for their own plans. Transited several times in Changi last week (Feb/Mar 2019), all on different PNRs:

QF to 3K vv
MH to 3K
SQ to QF

All flights transferred (With checked bags) without any issues. Message was consistent, being just needed 'reasonable' time to ensure baggage transferred correctly. When pressed, some says give 1 hr some 1.5 hrs, although one of the flights I did was 45 mins and it got through ok (Pushing it though and wouldn't recommend it).

Also attached the current transfer information at the airport (Feb/Mar 2019).

I've done a transfer with checked bags in 45 mins a few times - but it was MI to SQ so within same 'family'. Another reason why Changi has such a great reputation.

I'm impressed! I personally feel the margin for error is too high with this, but if you can pull it off anywhere, it would be Changi.

Were these connections done via the airline checking you through at departure, or going to a transfer desk at SIN and them having someone manually go to arrivals and redirect the bags?

Yup. Had a transit through SIN a few months ago, arriving from Yangon (RGN) to Changi on MNA (UB/UBA) and then next flight on Sri Lankan Airlines (UL/ALK) on totally different PNR's/bookings.

Asked UB staff on check in at RGN but no joy on getting PNR's married or through-checked baggage
UB Manager at Yangon Airport told me that Changi was pretty good at sorting out checked baggage in transit, and he wasn't wrong.

Arrived SIN, went to transfer desk, they called ahead to the Sri Lankan manager in a different part of the terminal and sent me there

Sri Lankan Manager asked me for checked baggage tags, and within 5 minutes had someone in the airport looking to collect them and transfer to the onward flight.
He asked me to wait, which I did. 10 minutes later he said they had found my 2 checked bags, and that they were then transferred to my onward flight SIN-CMB.

Now the kicker... I was waiting for an elderly couple with their disabled son arriving from coughet in transit (shortly after I arrived) to join the same onward flight from SIN-CMB (also separate tickets and no through checked baggage agreement). As I had booked their tickets, I had the 3 ticket numbers. Gave them to the Sri Lankan rep - and before the 3 pax landed, he had arranged for their baggage also to be collected and transferred to the onward flight, and then he sent me to their gate so I could meet them and make sure they didn't go outside to clear immigration and check bags again.

I CANNOT guarantee that this would work in any other case, but Changi has an excellent system in place,,,

Hi @Himeno - for me, via transfer desk inside Changi, sent from the main transfer desk near my arrival gate, down to the actual onward airline counter in a different part of the terminal.
Not at departure airport

Gotta love Changi (for more than one reason). I wished all airports were like this!

Go to the Finnair connections desk in the SIN transit area. They can check you in to the AY flight and give boarding passes. Show them the QF bag claim tag and they'll arrange for the bags to be found and redirected.

Changi is good, but the bus from Terminal 4 should run more often than every 25 minutes or so.

Hi Himeno,

Sorry for the late reply. Went to the transfer desk to check in. I tried to check through at beginning of the trip but seem to have lucked out with every single check in agent :).
