As the title suggests.

Arriving ex-Perth into Terminal 1 @ 2230 with departure to Da Nang next day Terminal 2 @ 1400. Two adults and 2 children.
Different carriers.

If I don't want to deal with immigration after arrival do we opt for Aerotel in T1 or Ambassador T2? Is that even a possibility?
And will we regret trying to do immigration and terminal switch the following day?

Or do we clear the airport entirely and opt for a nearby hotel.

What information am I missing or do I need to keep in mind?

We will have plenty of time to spare before we have to drop bags for our outbound flight, and the kids are very keen to re-experience the Jewel.

As an Australian, immigration takes all of 60 seconds. You complete the landing card in the app a day or two prior. On arrival it's an egate. Having said that, not sure how it works with children though.

I don't recall any issues with the kids last year, aside from making sure the youngest didn't rush through.

If cost is no object, the Crowne Plaza at Changi, land-side but attached to T3 (and easy to get to from T1 and T2) is a very good hotel.

Else take a Grab (the Uber in SIN) to another land-side hotel.

We did several trips DRW-SIN when Miss H was about the same age as your kids @GarrettM

I’d agree with getting them to a hotel pronto especially with an onward connection.

Customs and Immi are straightforward and very efficient at Changi.

As for hotel options.. I’m cheating by linking to my response to a previous SIN hotel question because that was also in response to an AFFer with two kids.

Other posts around mine may also have some options for you to consider. See here.

I third this. A very good investment.
You get off the plane, cruise through immigration, shuttle to terminal 3, then a short walk to Crowne Plaza. You’ll be in your comfortable room super quick for a delicious night’s sleep.
Kids can go wild in the wonderful pool in the morning.
A good breakfast buffet at the hotel or enjoy the food hall on level 2.
Leave you bags at the hotel and walk to Jewel.
Then you’re at the airport ready for your next flight with no hassle.

Ooh we've actually done the GRM previously so yes I will throw it in the mix.

If CP is out of the price range, there are options not far away. Something close to the MRT makes it cheap and easy to get back to Changi - even if you Taxi / Grab to the Hotel on arrival (mind you, with four a Grab might be about the same price but the MRT is cheap and has contactless payment).

The Grand Mercure Roxy might be one to look?

Terminal 1, 2 and 3 are all connected and can walk from one to the other without leaving the airport.

Immigration takes 1 minute, even with children. You will use the e-gates, but an ICA officer will assist you with their iPad to confirm the children's pictures.

Best option I would suggest is staying in Katong. Nearby the hotel for a cheaper grab/taxi and some interesting things to see in the neighborhood.

iVillage Katong is somewhere I have stayed with children previously on a similar itinerary to you. Cheap and can accommodate 4, breakfast and pool are adequate enough.

What everyone else said about SG immigration speed and ease. I would recommend Village Hotel Changi Village, particularly with children, two pools and there is a lot of parkland, playgrounds and seaside at Changi Beach, can stretch the legs in the morning. As well as a great hawker centre. And a ferry to Ubin.

Katong eg Grand Mecure Roxy or Village Hotel Katong is also a great option, as per above, about equidistant as Changi Village.

Note that the SGAC is free, there are some clone (scam) websites around which do it for a fee, so take some care to go to gov.sg.

We stayed at T1 hotel in May and got to finally enjoy the pool and the room included a meal per day and no complaints about the food either. The monorail is just down an escalator from the hotel so you can take the kids and go through the Jewel on the monorail and when you get back, exit the airport by just going down another set of escalator and walk past the baggage carosel into the Jewel and the waterfall- all super fast and easy

Take the kids to the butterfly garden and I think they still have the super long slide at T3 and then get them back to the pool for a dip before some sleep

Edit. Our room had 2 double beds and a sofa, it was a large room.

Don’t think cp allows 4 in a room. They had a max of 3 last time I checked

Yeah they do but only in one or two room types, we have stayed there before and are again soon.

Not sure how old the kids are, but if they are under 10 then just stay at the airport

Getting on a train/taxi etc with luggage is a PITA after a flight and late in the evening/night
