Changi Matters

It's an hour ride to changi! What are they expecting in 2hrs. Can you imagine doing that with kids, like the brochure suggested? I know the road between the airport & the water is 10km by itself. Looks easy on the map until you hit the 32 degrees outside. Even the "close" east seafood center is 40 mins.

Transitting through Nov 23 I noticed the big double story DF store middle T3 finally open after like 28yrs construction - however I did not check it out.

But this morn with a bit of spare time I did - prices over top but remember upstairs in old store you could get a mini coughtail for free? Well now in new store you can get a full blown free coughtail prepared by robots - see here.

Will try that in March! Thanks

On and off with varying levels over the last year or so. Best I have done was:

Itinerary suggestions for what to do (family) at Changi with a ~5hr connection on return leg from EU, arriving SIN ~1830, dep ~2330 on a Sunday night (I note some things open later only on weekdays - mostly in public/Jewel)?

I assume we’ll be locked in “transit” side of things meaning Jewel and anything “public” will be unavailable? Not sure I want to deal with immigration / emigration just to visit the jewel (which i note a number of attractions close circa 930pm).

Any highlights we should ok for?

(Clearly buying the Tanqueray is on the list and I assume it’s a deliver to gate due to the security screening requirements?)

(Yes, if AU is your destination, duty free is deliver to the gate, so you need to purchase it 90(?) minutes before flight time.)

Five hours is effectively four hours I suppose, so if you did not want to enter Singapore, you could visit the butterfly garden and orchid garden, take the skytrain past the Jewel waterfall, have a swim at the T1 aerotel (expensive for a family though), or just chill in the lounge if you have access (?).

It's easy enough to enter Singapore with the on-line SGAC (no fee - do not accidentally go to third party sites), so you could visit Jewel, or taxi/uber to East Coast for chill crab and black pepper crab, or Changi Village for more (better value) local food. Or just walk down to the staff canteens in the basements of T1 and T2.

Yeah, it’s ridiculously easy to enter. So unless you have lounge access to whittle away time, I’d wander jewel, have dinner then head back in and find somewhere to just chill from 9:30-11ish
