Changes to SQ J seat selection on Lite and award fares

Interestingly, my existing (J saver) award booking still indicates "As a KrisFlyer Elite Gold member, you can enjoy complimentary advance seat selection".

I can't tell though whether there's only limited seats remaining or the options are actually restricted, since we're under three months to flight date and seats were already half full when we originally booked.

JAL and QF have always restricted seat allocations on award tickets for non-elite members. As does BA, including for cash purchased tickets without elite status. I've become used to setting alarms at the requisite number of hours before boarding to compete with others so no real difference. Also the number of award seats booked in a typical J cabin would be 2, so hardly any benefit to Krisflyer making it too difficult.

Damn! Definitely a downgraded benefit. I loved the middle seats J "bed" on the A380 I scored when we did our first European run in 2023.

There will still be 6 rows (so 6 pairs of the middle seats) available for selection for those on lite fares and saver/advantage awards.

Yeah, but there is only 2 sets of bulkhead seats that convert to a double bed. Likely they wont be included

Bulkheads aren't affected by this change - in recent times, they've only been available to Solitaire and PPS Club members for pre-selection, with any unallocated seats released at T-96.
I checked back to my March 2023 emails, got the double beds at T-47hrs 55mins 😀. Not a scrap of status, just lots of points.
