Hey Guys,

WP here, was recently flying BNE-MEL at 6am Monday morning, I arrived at the gate just after boarding was called but I swear I heard them call Platinum members first ***EDIT: and business***, and then only after platinum started boarding (which is when I arrived), did they call gold members and economyx etc.

Has anyone else come across this? Or is this a change to their priority boarding procedures? If so that would be a very good idea, considering on those Monday morning / Friday evening flights, 3/4 of the plane is gold and nearly everyone is priority boarding... Would make sense to allow platinum first, then gold and econ x & then everyone else (just like other airlines do when flying internationally).

In my experience it has generally been Business/Platinum then Gold. Occasionally it's all together, but generally there is a break, even if it is somtimes as little as 15 seconds.

Havent heard just WPs. Now its J, WPs, SG and YX and partner Status holders, get called to board all at the same time

heard WP and J followed by SG and EcoX at Brisbane yesterday... dont think will make a difference as SG already know they have priority boarding and most if not all of EcoX are WP anyway

Interesting how this is played out on an international flight. Obviously, there's way more people in J and Premium, so add WP, SG and YX to the mix - you may as well just say "EVERYONE EXCEPT ROW 54 - NOW BOARDING"

At least Virgin attempt to prioritize: Qantas have designated lanes but it is in my recent experience a total free for all

On the (very) rare occasion hubby and I get to fly with the Chosen Ones in Business Class, I'd LOVE this to be acknowledged at the gate. I'm not after a paparazzi or anything, just the order of boarding to which I am entitled. My vote goes to J, (looong pause)...........WP, (pause), then whatever riff raff follows....

And if that means I trump a WP - so be it.;)

Agree, Qantas is an absolute circus...though Virgin is playing a quick game of catch up :(
