Arghh! I have purchased my first restricted condition ticket for work and now I am reminded why its such a gamble with even just a 10% chance of things changing...

Ok, so I went and purchased a LHR-LIN (Milan) return in club-europe for GBP290. eTicket endorsements are stated as: Pax nonref/nonchg/ieunba

Am I completely wishful in hoping I can get any more than the taxes/fees paid (about GBP50) or even try to convert this to a LHR-ZHR-LHR ticket instead?

cheers

You can get taxes back ( minus service fee ) but that's it

Non Changeable and Non Refundable means just that. If the reason for change falls within coverage, time to check Travel Insurance policy

If you need to be in ZHR at the time you are scheduled to fly to LIN, then you you may want to check out the train schedules from Milan to Zurich. At least it is a spectacular trip up through the alps.

Gents, thanks for the feedback - alas the date and destination would be changing hence no train travel Euro style on this occasion.

Spoke to the boss about the non-ref ticket, he joked: "feel free to give me the £250 cash in advance next time you think about a non-changeable ticket!".......Touche.

I ended up cancelling this on the web, got my £50 worth of taxes back....

Much more interestingly, I appear to have been credited the FF points and 60 SCs for the first sector of this return flight (LHR-LIN) yesterday that I didn't even take! The return sector has disappeared from my booking view so am not expecting any further 'gain' from this ticket.

Is this a fairly common occurrence?

cheers,

Remind the boss about the difference in prices for a CW flexible ticket and a CW non flexible ticket.

I think one cancellation out of 2//3 trips would be more than enough to get at least a small saving over the price of full flexi CW...
