From the 1st of January 2026, Air Canada has announced a vast amount of changes to their Aeroplan program.

Yes they've gone full spend-based. Even though in the past they had a minimum spend with AC, now it is all based on SQC's.

Interestingly, Star Alliance partner flights where tickets are issued by the partner still earn SQCs based on distance travelled. It says that non-StarAlliance partners do not earn SQC. I guess that means that you will no longer be able to get any status qualification for VA flights.

Also interesting that while most of the levels have maintained their earn requirements but in SQC instead of SQM (e.g. Aeroplan 25K is now 25K SQCs instead of 25K SQM's), Super Elite status is now 125K SC instead of 100K SQM.
