Hi I am seeking help in relation to a current redemption booking I have in J for 2 Dubai to Brisbane which was booked early 2015. After MH cut BNE and we had to come back via Sydney (which we had to overnight in Sydney) I made a waitlist redemption booking (again in J) with SQ which cleared a week before we were to fly.

I phoned MH to cancel and found I would lose the points if I cancelled but for a fee of US$20 each could change to another date within six months of original date. I picked a random date in mid June.

On return to Australia and checking work availability etc would still like to have a mid year break but would prefer to go to KL only and not Dubai. If we could change booking to fly from KL would do a redemption booking to KL on SQ as we will have a week only.

Is anyone able to comment if MH will allow me to cut the Dubai to KL part of the redemption booking with the KL to BNE flight kept. I appreciate that I will lose the points for Dubai to KL flight.

Have now changed my booking. Phoned MH and agent after checking with her supervisor advised me that I could change the booking to delete the Dubai to KL sector which I did do. Lost the points for Dubai to KL as I expected. Agent did not know if I would be refunded the taxes and surcharges for the Dubai to KL sector.

Now having a week in Penang and flying SQ there. I need to fly Penang to KL to catch the Sydney flight. Rather than a redemption booking (approx. 13,000 points in J and approx. 5100 points in Y with taxes etc of 70 ringgit for 1 person) will pay for a Y flight with total cost of 130 ringgit for 1 person. Seems a poor use of enrich points.

Yup. Enrich is hard to get value out of these days (earning and burning on MH). The enhancements last year plus the no alcohol flights < 3 hours this year really eviscerated the program IMHO. Only bright spot was crediting to AA but that's pretty much gone in March as well. :-(
