Brains trust: I have a booking for next week that is a return MEL-BNE with both legs red e-deals. I want to change the outbound flight to a few days later. When I log on and try to do this the website is throwing up an error and saying I must change both directions. The specific wording is:

Please review the following items

  • There was an issue while changing only one bound. You have to change both bounds.

Is there some new rule or is this a fault? It's showing the return flight i'm already booked on as an option for my return with +$50 beside it??? I've never had an issue changing one leg or return sale fares below - just pay the fee and the difference???

No question about the cost, my point is I've done it dozens of times before and never had a problem changing just one leg of the booking - paying the change fee and the fare difference if applicable. I'm trying to find out if that is no longer the case?

I had the exact same issue last month trying to change the second leg of a September booking. In the end gave up trying and didn't bother calling.

I changed one leg of a CNS BNE return yesterday on Red E.
Just paid the $88 dollar change fee. Brought it forward so that I could spend more money with them to get to Melbourne before lunch.

I first saw this a couple of years ago in one of my bookings, hadn't seen it before, just called up & had no issues.

maybe a bug. Comes & goes I have noticed.

I had the same problem today when looking at options for one of Dr FMs flights. It looked like I could only change the return leg if I paid a higher fee for both legs.
