Just received an email from IHG. Seems that from 1st July the 2000 points will be discontinued and replaced by 10 points per usd$1 spent on room rate, bar and food.

Flagged at the start of the year, Amb accel dies at the same time.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I just got the email too, I am far from expert at any of this stuff, however on average wouldnt you end up with a lot more points? (makes me wonder what the devaluation will look like soon)

Based on my historical spend I would be way in front under the new system. My last stay would have earned about 4500 base points alone instead of the 2000.

Hi. I agree the point structure is more beneficial, I'm sure maintaining platinum
status, a much easier task Yeah!!!

It's about time too.
I would have earned lots of points over the years staying at IC Sydney.

It was always a points earn per $ when staying at IC in the USA, only the rest of the world we got the 2000 per stay.

If by always you mean since 2012 that is the case. Prior to a change in 2012, the USA was also on the 2,000 point limitation.

This suits us too. We're not IHG fans but this makes it a little easier to stay at an IC over a Hilton. Especially good as I have a few IC bookings coming up, so it's happened at a good time for us.......or thinking about it, maybe not. Did we get 2000 points for reward nights previously? Our upcoming stays are reward nights so the only point gain will be F&B, presumably, over what, 2000 + AMB accelerator previously? Actually, I have no idea what we were entitled to , I just wasn't that interested in IHG. Maybe now I might be more so.

IIRC rewards nights were non qualifying, so no points there. If using a free weekend night voucher 2000 points were awarded + accelerator
