Change to Aircraft on CX257 - no more F?

Thank you Mel_Traveller. Yes it looks like First is available on Wednesday on CX257 and CX 238 from about late March 2015 onwards. Couldn't find the original airline route notification about the one day a week but what you have said makes sense and seems correct.

it seems I entirely made up the route notification... well... I read it wrong. I thought it was 6x weekly 3-class and 1x 4-class... which it doesn't say at all :) but anyway... looks like they are operating one 4-class a week, which is confirmed by the outbound and inbound aircraft both matching up with F availability.

keep an eye on it though.

As I feared, just checked my F Booking for May 2015 on CX257 and return on CX 236 and noticed we have now been downgraded to J due to a plane change. Not happy as I booked this in June 2014 and was booking in F as a 50th Birthday treat. Used QFF points for the booking.

I will ring Qantas and see what my options are but it seems like we are "screwed" as there would not be any Awards seats left on other flights that day with F.

By the way they have not notified me as yet, just a note when you go into manage your bookings in Qantas web site. I assume I would get the points difference back once I accept the downgrade?
It is a 168,000 points difference.

You need to call cathay pacific.

ask them to look at your booking, and ask them what the options are.

if they tell you they 'can't touch the booking', agree with them, but ask them to create new award F space for you on another CX service leaving that day. Tell them once the award space has been created, you'll get QF to reissue the ticket asap.

Thanks MEL Traveller for the advice. Was able to get Qantas to ring Cathay and get them to create new award F space for the return flight which was only about 90 mins latter than the original flight.

With the HKG to LHR leg the options were not as good. ie taking the 12.35 am flight out of HKG was not that appealing and the other possible flight was a problem with accommodation. So decided to stick with J on the way over and get the points back. At least we will get the F treat for one leg and I will see if I can apply the recouped points to something else.

Thanks again.

the 1235am flight out of Hong Kong is great! your bed will be made up while you change just after take-off, you can have a quick bite to eat if you want, and be asleep within 30-40 minutes.
