Hi All,

I'm really considering moving from Qantas to VB. I do about 50/50 domestic and International travel, with lots of internal USA flights. Dom in whY and Int in J. (currently QFF Gold).

The only thing that has stopped me from changing is that it seems so hard to find a single FF program with VB that I can use for both. Virgin America is putting in another program called Elevate (but you already knew that).

Ok so to my question....

Is there a FF program that allows you to get points from :
VB (ok DJ, but VB sounds sooo much better "....You can get it flying...") in Aus
VS, SQ Internationally
VA (is that what Virgin America is?) in the USA.
AMEX cards etc

Or is Qantas the only one that has a unified FF system from domestic and international?

Appreciate any comments.

Matt, you can earn and redeem Velocity points flying:
  • Virgin Atlantic
  • Emirates
  • Malaysian
  • Hawaiian
  • and of course Virgin Blue, Pacific Blue and Polynesian Blue.
And more coming (Asia and North America in particular are areas where we can never have too many partners). You can transfer your Amex points to Velocity just like with QFF. So we're not as "integrated" as Qantas yet but working towards it. Expect some "enhancements" (to use the Qantas phrase but not their typical meaning) soon.
cheers

Thanks Dave,

Just one final questions - and this is the corcker that will get me accross, can you secure an international J upgrade in advance? Sometimes I book a Y ticket on Qantas and I want to upgrade to J using my points (my business puts in nearly 80,000 points per month). I hate QFs policy of not awarding them until that morning:evil: . Most of my travel is flexible and I would be happy to jump on a different flight to get the upgrade.

Appreciate any comments.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

What you would do in this situation when using your points is secure a business class award instead of a WHY award on one of the airlines mentioned by Dave.

Thanks John,

But do you know at time of booking that you got the upgrade, or do you have to wait until 24 hours before like Qantas and hope and pray that you get it?

Yes. You would actually book a business class seat with your Velocity points so no need to wait for a confirmation of upgrade. Of course, all this is based on the assumption that there are available business class seats on the flights you wanted.
