Hi all,

I'm flying back from PER to ADL this weekend and have tried to upgrade two economy tickets with no joy either online or through the call centre.

Is there any chance that upgrade seats are likely to be released before the weekend for a lowly SG or should I just get to the airport early and ask nicely at the QP?

Cheers

Steve

Asking in the QP at T-3 is always a good option. Have you looked on EF at the loadings?

I suspected that asking in the QP would be the go.

I only have the freebie EF membership and according to a dummy seat alert, only 3 seats in J are occupied. Flightstats.com is saying J9/C9/D0/I0 so it looks like I might have half a chance of scoring two seats if we get there early enough.

D0 I0 is not a good sign - would imagine that means that it's also U0, which I thought means there are no seats available for flight upgrade awards. Not sure that this new 'show the love' policy extends to making available flight upgrades on a space-available basis, but I guess you never know...

That just means you can't do it now. Still lots if seats free. QP can use discretion at T-3.

In that case I'll be asking nicely at the QP and hoping that whoever has the discretion doesn't have a problem with infants in J :)

Questions like this should be asked in the Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk thread.

Here's the loading output for PER-ADL this Saturday and Sunday (assuming you're flying direct as no info given). Sunday is the more promising day for upgrade availability at the moment, and don't forget you can request an ODU in the QP.

And roll on the new upgrade waitlist system for Domestic I say!

Thanks TheWinchester, we're flying back on Saturday on QF592. Will see how early we can get to the airport, but with a little one in tow, everything seems to take twice as long nowadays!

I might try phoning the QP at T-3 hours if we can't get there early enough and promise chocolates/coffee on arrival. That would be considered to be a tip, not a bribe, right? :)

Cheers
