My wife and I recently fly from Venice to Perth via Dubai, EK all the way on QFF points. The first leg was in Y and the second in F, that’s just the way the availability went. Both were firsts for me, first on an A380 and first in first.
The first leg was quite painful, no fault of the crew or the plane, we just lucked out with seats next to the toilets and 2 x screaming kids for 6 hours, you get that, I understand and that’s what noise cancelling headphones are for. That aside, the food was quite OK and the entertainment pretty good.
Landing in Dubai, we soon found the first class lounge and got some exceptional food and drinks, it is huge !
Surprisingly, a lot of young kids in there too but all well behaved.
I expected to board the aircraft from the lounge but this was not the case, no big deal, a short walk to the gate and the priority boarding worked OK. Once we got to the top of the stairs, it was another world. There were more staff than passengers in F on the flight. We got the obligatory DOM and shown how to operate the suite. Next was a booking for the shower and the on demand dining explained.

Despite a very turbulent flight, we got in a few hours of sleep and arrived in Perth quite refreshed. We located our limo driver who delivered us home.
The whole experience was memorable and has ticked off a bucket list item. If you have done it oyu know what I mean, if you haven’t add it to your list.
