Centurion 2011 Benefits

I can see it being offered for HK based Centurions, just can't see it being a Global thing.
(eg the Singapore Eat at Raffles deals and many more)

I would think that HK Centurion is the one that will be excluded.

CX's benefit would be minimal if they offer it to Cent HK, most of the people in HKG will choose CX as their first preference regardless having status or not.

However, this is not the case when it comes to outside of HKG. For example, by offering it to Australia, UK, US etc. CX is more likely to capture additional market share from its competitors.

I for one, has been loyal to Qantas and BA for a very long time. But now, the game has changed, I will spend most of my international flights on CX.

That’s a shame, as I just told my dad about it and think he’d probably consider Centurion in HK if he got free CX Diamond that he struggles to retain as it is.

He’s been invited a couple times, but sticking with Platinum.

I havent been on CX in many years, so if this comes off, i am looking forward to giving them another go, im sure their pricing would be better to get to Europe too.

CX MP Diamond (consequently OWE) is a great addition! Too bad I will never be invited into Centurion membership in the forseeable future :(

I have just received confirmation from Centurion Travel that we are indeed to receive CX Diamond status however not until May.

My partner just called Amex and no-one knew what he was on about.

Hopefully this actually happens and wasn't an April fools joke. How cruel

cts australia finally just got back to me to tell me there were definitely no current plans to offer cx diamond status to centurion members. since i know this is false, it's a bit funny (but unfortunately typical) to have them confirming things that are untrue.

if it's not 'til may here in australia that we get this benefit, i'm going to go ahead and request it through my idc centurion. at least icc amex have the real story and the benefits through them start sooner (april 11).

Spoke to the relationship manager today and the CX benefit is confirmed and as of 1st of April, Amex is allowed to discuss the new benefit.

Latest update is the application form will be out in May 2011 as per Homer's post.

haydensydney: I don't joke about things like that lol as it is cruel indeed!

:D Well i'm happy it's confirmed.

My partner received a email today from Centurion advising:

"The forums you mentioned are correct, from 1 May Cathay Pacific will be inviting Centurion Members to become a member of their Frequent Traveller program. The contract is still being finalised between American Express and Cathay Pacific, you will receive more information about this from Centurion Travel in May."

So lets talk about benefits for the non-CX fliers like my partner and I. Correct me if i'm wrong but if I understand correctly:

- if we fly any OW airline from SYD we can use the QF F lounge
- if we ever fly QF domestically irrespective of class we can use the J lounge
- we can use the F or J checkin lines when flying OW irrespective of class
- we can use all of the F lounges worldwide when flying OW?

Is there anything else i'm missing?

What about op-ups? I hear that CX treat the top tier of their programme very well, which include op-ups on occasion.

On another note, do you think that current Diamond status holders of CX may get their noses out of joint because of the rapid influx of comp'd members clogging their upgrade changes?? Food for thought... perhaps CX will distinguish types of Diamond status - status thats earned by spend vs. status because of Centurion (e.g. a two class system?)

Looks good here.

The exception to the F lounges worldwide is, of course, the BA CCR, which are not ow registered F lounges, and only accessible if you hold a BA F ticket arriving or departing on the same day.

Note that your next flight must be oneworld operated. This means you cannot access the lounges if you are flying JQ metal, whether they be a JQ, QF or even other oneworld flight code. Also, for instance given the SYD-ICN flight operated by OZ but codeshare available for sale from QF, a QF WP can buy the QF codeshare ticket for this flight and access either the F or J lounges at SYD T1. As a OWE, however, you would get no access.

Your guest (only one) needs to be travelling with you in all cases, although the lounges may turn a blind eye on this, especially the domestic ones (as they may do with anything else).

I'm assuming that OWEs can use the NGCI Premium Desk and Priority Security.

As always, always treat op-ups as a bonus, never an expected.

In saying that it has been known that CX do upgrade generously and CX Diamonds almost always get first dibs at op-ups. Other OWEs also get caught in the mix, possibly before CX Golds.

I'm not sure how many Centurion card holders there are, so there may not be the huge influx of CX Diamonds that you might be thinking. Even if they were, surely CX made a conscious decision regarding their agreeing to this, and considering that there are flights where OWEs can be op-upped, I don't think the CX system is exactly completely swarming with Diamonds right now. As for differentiating between types of Diamonds, I can't say for sure, but my hunch is that they don't care much about how you got the status and if they really had to split hairs then they'll do it on tier credits (or equivalent measurement).

I don't think so due to the following reasons:

- "Invitation Diamond" is still CX's highest tier, so the top customers are well protected
- HKG Centurions are unlikely to get the CX diamond
- I think CX Diamond's members are well below other OW's standard as it is harder to qualify. The additional centurion diamond members would not make a massive impact.

You have it all correct, assuming the Diamond card they offer is also connected with OW-status and they don’t work out a way to split it ;) Doesn’t Air NZ give their Gold Elites free Gold to a friend or partner that is only recognised on Air NZ?

Yes, they do treat elites well, upgrades happen on CX more often.

As for splitting Diamond, they already have an invitational level of Diamond for their top 1% already, and any remaining life members when they operated a lifetime scheme. If any of these members are also on your flight, they’ll get first priority, ala CL.

I just heard a further update. Yesterday the product managers at Centurion Travel were seemingly happy to answer questions about this but after quite a few enquiries from Centurion members started coming in (you know who you are ;)) an internal email has now circulated requesting a stop to all talk about the new benefit. In addition I have been told that while the benefit details, and possibly an application form, will come out in May the benefit itself will apply from “later in the year”. I couldn’t get an answer on how much later but it seems that it is looking like being some time after May.

Question for all the Centurion holders,
Did any of you have a branded card ( DJ's, Earth, Westpac, NAB etc) and were invited Centurion?
Seriously looking at my own CC options now with the CX status.
( mods please move if I have posted in wrong thread)

No. I had an AMEX Plat and after a year or two received a Centurion invitation.

Indeed... it seems the cough has hit the fan at amex over the details of this being spilled early.

My partner spoke with Amex again today and got given the same spiel about not being able to talk about it etc. Management have stepped in "after a number of phone calls from members who have quoted online forums" haha.... Good news travels fast, No?

Anyway "rumour has it" that the application forms will be sent out in May with the actual cards arriving weeks(?) after that - so could be a while before the benefit actually comes to reality.

Thanks Amex - its a great win for Centurion card holders in Australia...!
