The trade unions have called a strike at these 3 airports in 18 June 2026 for 24hrs
ATC not involved so the runways will still e open but the striking employees are baggage handlers, ramp agents, security and check in - basically the ground operations.
Are refuelers also involved??
The reason for the strike is over the issuing and renewal of security badges.
Hopefully anyone travelling on those dates from these airports will know their EU261 rights.
There are other travel disruptions in Europe as well
Spain is in the middle of a rolling strike on Monday, Wednesday, Friday across many airports involving ground handling.
Portugal had a major strike involving public and aviation trapsport on 3 June involving cabin crew, rail, and other transport workers
Italy will be having a national railway strike for 11 June between 9am and 5pm
Belgium recently had ATC strike on 2 June
Europe Strike Tracker
EU261 rights
- right to care: food and drink vouchers, hotel accom, transport between airport and hotel and refund or alternative routing regardless of who was striking , or the cause of the delay or cancellation
- Cash compensation if the strike was caused by the airline's employees/agents. ATC, ground security would not generally be airline employees. Im not sure if baggage handlers are considered airline employees.
