Canberra is full, and we don't have enough water. There should be no development - but this won't happen. Nor do they like filling in the green gaps - until the parliamentry triangle is backfilled with overpriced units.
Like Tullamarine or Badgerys creek - infill will happen.
The best defence Canberra Airport can take, is have the land saddled with a covenant saying mandatory Max++ level 5 or whatever noise insulation, if use ever changed from farmland/ place to dump tyres.
I was not referring to some sales/clause but a covenant on the deed/land title, that includes additions or modifications. Landlord act can be ammended too. People who complain - would be evicted and loose their bond and/or title. I spoke to a .gov advisor and he said 'you cant do that, or impractical. Wuss. The owner can be told, its that, or nothing.
If Canberra Airport does like that, get approval to build trucking parking /container storage under the flight path. Funny, both ACT and Qbn dont want that, figuring they would get more $$ for something else - like housing?
All things aside, it is a win for now. But as all Canberra's fuel and avgas no longer arrives by train, I cant see big growth because of fuel being overpriced in Canberra.
As for the curfew - they seem to happen when everyone hates the airport for ripping them off. Someone else can point out quiet planes and curfew are incompatible. If NSW is still feeling the pinch, they can levy a special 'noise abatement tax' on all those who benefit from airport restrictions.
Share the pain.
