CBR evacuated after shots fired

News outlets using footage showing Qantas 737-400s and Virgin Blue E190s! Been 15 years surely they could update the photo archives. Not as bad as the continued use of stock photos with Jetstar 717s I guess.

One can only hope the judge doesn’t think he’s just a naughty boy.
It could be my poor understanding of it but...

The ABC reports that he is being charged with:
-discharging a firearm at a building
-unlawful possession of a firearm
-discharging a firearm near a person, causing alarm

Now I thought there was a more serious charge for brining a firearm to an airport?

Probably not if it’s licensed and you’re checking it in.

Obviously can’t take it through security…

Wouldn't unlawful possession imply that he's not licensed?
Exactly. That’s one of the charges.

But someone who is licensed (eg sporting shooter) can presumably take it without being arrested?

I don't believe anything stops the police from laying additional charges later if it's found there is some sort of weapon at airport law that has been broken, and no doubt they are looking to see if there is a specific law about firearms at airports that they can charge him with as well.

But they also needed to charge him with things quickly so they could take him to the courts and get a decision on bail.
