CBA Diamond and QANTAS lounge.

Good evening all,

Just wondering, if I presented my CBA Diamond Awards Card and my boarding pass (regardless of the class I fly) on the day of my flight if I could gain access to the QANTAS lounge.

I have asked CBA and they passed the buck, QANTAS have not got back to me yet so I thought that I would ask everyone on here.

I don't see anything in the CBA diamond brochure, advertising or T&C to indicate that it provides any lounge access at all. I also don't see anything over at the QF site in relation to anything like this.

Something has brought you to this question though - what did you see that made you consider this might work?

I have heard that some cards give you access, thought that I might have been able to do it with CBA but it would be for only to those in the know as such

Oh right. I think only premium Amex cards are likely to work in this way (Centurion and the like), but even then, pretty sure even they don't work for QF lounges.

Not CBA Diamond (AFAIK - would be interesting if it was a benefit).

However, as it is a "World Mastercard", it does give you some other benefits such as Gold Starwood Preferred Guest status: MasterCard® World - Home

I recieved an offer to upgrade my CBA Gold credit card to Diamond Awards due to having a Wealth Package home loan with Commonwealth Bank. The information they sent me at the time listed that as a Diamond Awards card holder, we'd have access to the Qantas Club Lounge once a year. I have rang them today to see how that works and they are saying that they have never offered such a thing.

I'm struggling to find the letter of offer they sent me a while ago, does anyone have this or has anyone seen this? CBA are happy to oblige if I can show them the letter!

According to CBA web site, the Wealth Package includes one credit card with no annual fee and no additional cardholder fee, from the following list of CBA cards:

Commonwealth Bank Platinum Awards Credit Card Account
Commonwealth Bank Gold Awards Credit Card Account

Commonwealth Bank Low Fee Gold Credit Card Account
Commonwealth Bank Low Rate Credit Card Account

The Diamond cards are not offered fee-free as part of the Wealth Package. So check the "fee" they are going to charge for the "upgrade" from Gold to Diamond.

I have never heard of any offer of Qantas Club access from any Commonwealth Bank credit card. That is usually only the domain of the QF branded cards from American Express etc.

I've never heard of any CBA card coming with QP access, not even a one-off complementary invite.

You are right, Moopere.

The only program like this that exists is with Amex - but it does not apply to QF lounges, but AA lounges and a host of others through the Priority Pass scheme.

Did you just ring and ask, or did they contact you? A colleague mentioned they contacted him (to offer him a fee-free Diamond) when he requested a credit limit increase on his Plat.

From what I know it's pretty straight forward. Just need to up your credit limit to $18K in the process. No EXTRA charge for it as a wealth pkg customer. I know of people who were offered it as the request to increase above $18K triggered their call to them. You'll earn 1.5 *real* QFF or VFF points per $.
