I have no idea where I should post this so here it is - if there is more appropriate thread I am sure Mods will move.

I recently purchased o/w CX J PVG-HKG-MEL - OMG did that ever turn out to be a disaster.

Was booked on CX369 dep PVG 17:40 on Aug 14 then ~3.5hrs in HKG then onto MEL - cannot even remember what that flt no. was.

Dep Jing’An Shanghai-La right on 14:30 for 1hr DiDi ride to PVG - trying to get inline to checkin staff there tell me you cannot checkin yet as metal to fly you back to HKG has indeed not even left HKG as yet due to weather. I pleaded at least let me checkin bags so I can go wait in lounge at least.

Still ‘no can do’ is answer til I actually tell them I have already checked in online - ‘oh ok then you can drop your bags and get BPs’ / WTF - so drop bags and head to immig and thru to lounge.

Wait wait wait wait - new exp dep keeps getting pushed back and back - luckily CK Lounge in PVG serves Laurent Perrier Champs - food offerings as in all Chinese lounges just cough - wait wait wait wait until 23:30 when flt is officially cancelled.

All pax herded downstairs then back thru immigration to re-enter China then to baggage carousel to collect luggage then up to Level 3 to Door 29 and wait for a bus to take us to hotel to o/n. Luckily bus was waiting when I got to door and we were straight on first bus - Qube Hotel was where we ended up and seemed only 15-20mins away.

Into lines again to get keys to room then up to room to rock hard bed but luckily acceptable pillow. Virtually no English speaking staff anywhere made getting aircon in my room fixed so it worked was quite a challenge. Couple hours later receive phone call to say bus will collect us at 10:00 next morn to go back to airport.

Down to lobby by 09:30 and I am again on first bus back to PVG - Groundhog Day we checkin again - clear immig - into Lounge and Laurent Perrier again got a second hiding. This time Flt is CX369D with sch dep 14:00. Checked second BP and noticed I am booked on QF030 Seat 2F for HKG-MEL sector and not CX.

Now me being QF ignorant see 2F and thinking how real airlines number their seat rows thought WOW I have gotten F upgrade. Quick Dr G search of QF 330 quickly brought be back to earth - only J and it’s like 10 to 15 yrs since I have been on any QF plane so wasn’t expecting much.

Anyway back to CX PVG-HKG we boarded pretty much on time but held up for 1.5hrs before take off due to back log of flts into / out of HKG. F & B offerings onboard very ordinary but staff were FABULOUS 👍

Arr into HKG then had to navigate that ridiculous poxy transfer system then off to Wing Longe only to find no showers so then off to try to find QF J Lounge - OMG I hate HKG with a passion - if any fellow AFFers ever hear me mention I am transitting thru HKG please cough slap me into tomorrow?

Edit - I forgot to include MENU

....
Aw matey - very sorry to hear this hit you the way it did.
HKG isn't _always_ that bad. The secret is loading up on coughtails and champers in Wing F (When available) / Pier F before the flight. If ever our paths cross, I'll be delighted to take you in if you're sans OWE and numb your pain.
