Cathay Pacific has introduced non-stop services from Hong Kong to Melbourne and Brisbane, will all services to Cairns and Adelaide to now fly direct as the carrier strives to improve service for its Australian passengers.
The changes, effective from March 30, come after 40 years of flying to Australia and 20 years of flying to Adelaide and Cairns specifically, general manager Southwest Pacific, Dominic Perret, commented.

This will add two additional direct flights CNS/HK, currently its Wed & Sat.

Now if they can just do something about the prices, even via SYD on QF to HKG is much cheaper normally.

How many per week from ADL?

BNE gets 11/wk with 4/wk of those via CNS.

3/day MEL
4/day SYD

I wish they would have made the change earlier..I will still be doing the ADL stop en route to MEL early December on CX105:(

They are doing very well with the J traffic for all Australian ports.

Great news! This is particularly handy for MEL, no more stopover in ADL. Will be interested to see the timing of the new direct MEL flights.

So how does the BNE flights work now? Will there still be a HKG - CNS - BNE & BNE - CNS HKG pairing?

All flights are now direct as per the first post.

I thought I read

7/wk
HKG-BNE-HKG

And

4/wk
HKG-CNS-BNE-CNS-HKG

Ie it's nonstop from hkg to CNS but still does the Bne tag after CNS (but there are 7/wk nonstop to Bne as well).

Under a revised schedule, Cathay will move to three-times daily non-stop services to Melbourne, daily non-stop services to Brisbane (with 11 flights a week) and make all Adelaide and Cairns flights to and from Hong Kong non-stop.

Great stuff! That's good news for both ADL (out) and MEL (in). Except that we in ADL will miss out on the MEL F lounge I suppose...

I love the PER HKG PER day-time flights. It is very good news for the capitals which now have the same direct flights.

So 4/wk via CNS and 7/wk nonstop from Bne!

I think it's 4 a week HKG CNS and back as they say it will depart two hours earlier, and eleven direct ex BNE.

This is good news for pickups from next year, and I expect my mum and dad will be happy not to have to stop in CNS on the way any more.
