Samsonite Cosmolite & Firelite Luggage

Don't want to put anyone off but be aware that the warranty covers damage as follows:

- This warranty covers only manufacturing defects and does not cover any damage caused by misuse (such as transportation of unusual items), neglect, accidents, abrasion, exposure to extreme temperatures, solvents, acids, water, normal wear and tear or transport damage (by airlines for example).

Damage resulting from "transport damage" is not covered, so despite the claims of super strength and durability if you use it for transportation"by airlines" (
as is surely intended) it is apparently NOT covered if it is damaged by airlines, and the damage is beyond normal wear and tear", which is (understandably) not covered. Message is -clearly only travel with airlines that take good care of you luggage (???) or buy luggage intended to be used on and handled by airlines.

Daah !!

The ABC program 'The Checkout' went to town on Samsonite and read out the whole exceptions pages on the guarantee. In the end it didn't seem to be very useful for an actual traveller. Unless you can get the airline to cover it before you leave the a/port, it's a joke.

How do people go with the 55cm firelite as carryon with VA? I didn't realise they were technically too big until a recent ausbt article.

I think VA is one of the only airlines in the world with a 105cm rule but I have never seen them apply it or even look at anyone's carry on. Certainly people take 55cm cases on.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I've taken mine on both VA and QF and haven't had an issue (technically the total dimensions are actually 116.5 so bigger than even QF international rules).

I thought QF was also 105 for domestic, but 115 for international - or has that changed?

Thanks folks, I felt there may have been a difference between what's on paper and what actually happens.

I guess you have to bear in mind that someone could possibly stop you, but probably won't
