I am considering getting the CARV device/app to improve my skiing and wondering if any forum members have used and if so, thoughts and feedback?

Thinking about it as I am still at a beginner level, struggling to step up to intermediate. Have had some lessons with ski instructors, very mixed bag. Some instructors good and another was terrible. A friend of mine who is advanced and recently did a ski instructor course thought there was benefit to be had from it.
I would not recommend

Are you thinking about it because you are a bit back seat in your stance?

The theory behind the Carv is to let you know when you are back seat in your stance.

The correct stance results in shin pressure against the front of the boot

1) I would not recommend it for beginners
2) To benefit you need to know what to do to correct the fore-aft body position
3) Best advice I can give is to get personal boots - dont hire ski boots. And don't get a stiff boot because of 4)
4) in the skiing moment, one of the ways to be forward in your stance is don't stand on your toes. A lot of people do that subconsciously. Lift your big toe up and pressure the ball of your foot by bending AT THE ANKLE. This requires a soft boot which allows you the bend the ankle
4a) People who say their foot is lifting up in the boot is really saying they are not bending at the ankle. They are in effect standing on their toes and straightening their ankle making the foot lift up in the boot.
4b) skiing is not bending the knee . For most people bending the knee just puts them more back seat. Bend the ankle first and the knee will follow
5) Continue lessons
6) here ends your private lesson 🤣

But will ask for the softest the have.
Not necessarily.
Rather a boot that is soft enough for you to bend your ankle using your body weight against the front of the boot cuff. This will cause the boot to flex forward a bit which is normal and actually desirable.

The more dynamic your skiing becomes the more forward force you can exert on the boot, the stiffer your boot can be.

If hiring don't get the rear entry ones. If possible get the ones which buckle at the front.

Happy for you to send a vid to me of your boot flex.

Highly recommend buying boots before anything else. Carv is not much less to buy than a suitable pair if boots for you. Need to buy them from a very experienced boot fitter.

And don't make the common mistake of hiring skis that are
to good for your standard !
Sorry, a bit late, but how did you get on after the excellent tips
that were posted.
