Hi Peoples,
Fully intended the double meaning of the thread title as this is an issue that sets many people off faster than reclining seats on a 45 minute flight.
I have been feeling like a bit of a mug of late when it comes to cabin baggage.
Always adhere to the rules...
Even when I see nothing but people carrying two pieces of 115cm luggage plus a laptop and handbag in Y... *DEEP BREATH*
...But that's another story.
I am in the market for new cabin baggage and I wanted to know how many of you are sticklers for the rules.
The Qantas website quotes:
Domestic:
2 x 105cm (41in) bags or
1 x 105cm (41in) bag plus 1 x 185cm (73in) non rigid garment bag
or
1 x 115cm (45in) bag
International Y:
Economy:
1 x 115cm (45in) bag
or
1 x 185cm (73in) non rigid garment bag
It then says that:
In addition to your carry-on baggage allowance, you may also carry on board one small personal item such as a handbag, laptop computer*, overcoat, small camera, a reasonable amount of reading material or a small amount of duty free goods (where permitted).
* For a laptop computer to be considered a personal item it must be carried in a slim bag. Laptops carried in large laptop bags will be counted as part of your carry-on baggage allowance
I am guessing this idea of a "slim bag" is very subjective....
Would this pass?
I know... Not funny
Anyway, I am tossing up between a 115cm case and a slim laptop bag
Or a 105cm case and rolling laptop bag (Which I can use for day trips)
What's the largest laptop bag you think you could get away with "LEGITIMATELY" for a 15" laptop (Dell M3800 For the win!) if you had a 115cm carry on?
Also interested in any current recommendations for carry-on bags even though it is slightly off topic.
I also think we should have a new term for people who break the baggage rules then get upset when their 5 pieces of luggage won't fit above their seat... Perhaps NIMO "Not In My Overhead"
