Hi all,

I recently bought a Think Tank Airport Airstream to travel with as it's a nice small bag for carry on to also hold my equipment. Looking at VA's site it suggests the bags need to be 48cm Long x 34cm Wide x 23cm Deep. The case according to the manufacturers site is it's 36cm Wide x 20.5 Deep x 44.5 Long. So the only dimensions it's over is by 2cm on the width..

I asked some other people and they said they'd had no worries with something like that and I also thought you guys would also have some ideas as well..

I'm just wondering if It'll fit in the overhead without stopping it from closing? I'm 98% sure it will as it's about the same width of my back I took last time which is just my school bag and it's a similar size to the camera bag..

First, welcome aboard!

Second, you will have no problem fitting that into an overhead.

Looks like a great bag! I'm looking for a new one myself - be interested in hearing your thoughts about this one, as I've also been considering the latest Lowepro. Have used their original, but that weighed about 3kg empty!! Newer one is made from carbon fibre IIRC, so much lighter, but that ThinkTank has me intrigued.

The trick is to add up the dimensions and make sure they are less than 105cm.

VA rule
48+34+23=105

Your bag
36+20.5+44.5=101

It's less than the total linear dimension, and it will fit into the overhead, but if for some reason, they want you to fit it into the carry-on luggage cage to test the size, that won't fit in...

Thanks for the welcome TomVexille!

Cheers for the help guys, I quickly bypass anyone who would want to check the size in the cage as I go straight to security as I just check in online. My main worry was it fitting in the actual overhead, but that's fine; thanks for the help!

Archphoto, It's a great well built roller bag. It can hold up to a 400mm 2.8 and that's a big chunk of glass for a small bag like it is. I have my 100-400, 6D, 24-70 and my 1D Mark II and there's still room. I post a pic of it setup up I need to get 10 post before I can post links or pics.

PM me if you prefer - that's a good grouping of gear you have, and the fact it can hold the 400 is superb!

PM sent.

Thanks for the help guys, quite happy with the bag with the size of it to hold my gear and still fit in the overhead. You definitely put my mind at ease now knowing I won't stop the overhead from closing when I put it in. hehe
