Cargo carriers expect new 'risk-based' security directives from US government

Air cargo operators are expecting the US Dept. of Homeland Security to issue new directives on airfreight security shortly, according to Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings President and CEO William Flynn, who said his company has been in"close contact" with DHS and the US Transportation Security Administration since Friday's revelation that two packages containing sophisticated bombs were intercepted en route from Yemen via package/express giants UPS and FedEx.

Initially only if you are sending packages from Yemen... then one will come in from the Sudan and Somalia and.....

I completely missed the story on the news, though heard about it, and was surprised I didn’t see it here. Is there a thread? Or is this it now. Might go and find out what happened at last.

Edit: Interesting that they’re going back to look at that UPS flight from Dubai that crashed after take-off as a possible link.

I’d be surprised, if Yemen wasn’t playing ball properly screening things, if sanctions weren’t imposed. They can shoot themselves in the foot.
