AFF Team, similar to the Qantas Club Corporate membership discounts, is there any possibility of AFF obtaining AVIS/Budget Corporate membership? My employer has it and it saves up to 75% on rentals and insurance. Unfortunately I'm soon to be retired and won't be able to use it. Not sure what's involved or if it's possible but I felt it's worth asking the question. Example; recent trip to Hobart $800 for 18 days with the Corporate account. $3000 -$6000 without.
Car rental costs are out of control. This, with the QC Corporate membership would make joining this group even more worthwhile.

Would it be an issue if you happened to have your Corp codes loaded into your AVIS Preferred profile? They tend to stick - both the Biz code and leisure codes.

Agree. It would be worthwhile checking which companies offer what and how that might translate to AFF’rs. Your example looks compelling.

Besides top notch Corp rates, I’ve had/have access to various Professional organisation and other associations (eg NRMA) discounts but to be honest, they‘ve never come close to Corp rates.

Keep in mind all the corporate rates are subject to negotiation. There isn't just one standard rate (a bit like FF levels and other corporate deals, but taken even further). The best corporate rates are at that level because there is typically high volume rentals as well so they price sharply as they want the business, and the corporate pricing flows through to staff as an incentive.

While this site likely can get a corporate rate, the pricing is unlikely to be at the levels of the large corporates.

They may, and occasionally do, ask for verification, or just do a revalidation of the code. While you may get through without it, if you can't present valid corporate id at time of rental they can charge full price without the deal. And if there was an accident this may also cause problems as it is reported to the employer and then may also be considered in the claim process.

Not in my experience. They are sent to the driver (as per details on the drivers licence).

In 20+ years renting cars for work and leisure using Corp rates, I’ve never been asked for company ID but do carry a business cards should that ever eventuate.

The one thing i have found is where there are different codes for Business and Leisure travel, that can roll through to what insurances apply and sometimes can’t be overwritten online. ie the company waives Excess reduction because it’s covered elsewhere but the leisure code gives you the option.

Yes, that was my point earlier. The Professional organisation and other association discounts are usually only around 5% (maybe 10% max). Compared with 20% or more for decent Corp rates. But they can vary region by region depending on where and how those Corp rates have been negotiated and how much usage they predict.

One of my former clients had far lower than retails rates. But not 75%. Part of the reason was the company covered all insurance. Liability was with some insurance company. All company & rental cars were self insured. They had 100's of cars, utes and trucks (very big and small) in the fleet. Writing off several $100,000's for crash repairs - replacements was just part of the annual vehicle cost. But rental cars had to be used for business: not personal leisure use. Was also a corporate - leisure rate for personal use, with a different discount. Using the corporate business rate for personal use would only happen once. No second chance given.

For those who use a discount code that they are not entitled to can be very expensive. Is a risk.
