The police discovered a car bomb in a smoking Nissan Pathfinder in the heart of Times Square, prompting the evacuation of thousands of tourists and theatergoers from the area on a warm and busy Saturday evening.

I saw this on Yahoo! earlier. Seems the car was packed full of everything under the sun, just odd it didn’t go off.

I've just spoken to my sister who is NY at the moment. They went to the theatre on Saturday night and came out to what was going on. She said everyone was very calm and she took photos from barriers very close (I did question that!) but apparently no real drama there. The hotel they are staying in is in 48th St just around the corner from the excitement.
Apparently no really big deal for the Big Apple!
