Hello. Can anyone recommend a car and driver in Rwanda? It will be for about 10 days.

Kigali Car Rentals seems to get good reviews but first hand info is always better.

Thanks,

We were in Rwanda for a few days in May, and used Kigali Car Rental Self Drive for three days.

This is a different company to Kigali Car Rental despite similar name. And despite having 'self drive' in its name, you can hire a car and a driver if you'd like, which is what we did.

We had a great experience, and would recommend it. But we didn't hire from any other company so we weren't able to compare the offerings.

We originally arranged with the driver to pick us up from our hotel, but we were still visiting the Genocide Memorial so we asked them to wait for us. Instead of waiting they proactively came to pick us up at the Memorial saving us a taxi ride back to the hotel.

We went to Akagera National Park and were very glad that we didn't choose to drive the car ourselves within the Park. On the last day we did a bit of Kigali tour and the driver dropped us off at the airport (we didn't need to return the car as such).

It was $US100 a day for a Toyota Prado plus $US40 for the driver. We didn't need to pay for anything extra such as driver's accommodation/meals. The only thing we had to pay was petrol.

The driver did have his own company so you might be able to cut out the middleman. PM me if you want the driver's details.
