cant register aisle seat preference or am I missing something?

I occasionally fly DJ, and as a Velocity Gold really appreciate the row 3 seating when I fly Y.
But every time I fly the system books me into a row 3 window seat, and shows the aisle seat as unavailable for OLCI- and I really don't like window seats. I cannot see where in my velocity profile I can specify an aisle seat preference.
I once contacted the call centre to ask if they could reallocate my seat and they didn't seem to be able to comprehend what I was asking. All they did (after a long wait) was suggest I pay $$ for an exit row.
The service from the ground staff for gold members is great, and so far so good they have put me in row 3 aisle when I check in. But one day there won't be an aisle seat available...
So, am I missing something or is it really the case that I cant specify a simple preference for aisle or window?

Ring Velocity Gold service centre and get them to do it for you, if enough people do this someone will twig and think "wouldnt it be good if our customers could indicate preferences"!

There is no seating preference selection like QFF but I would think that it will come in with the program revamp that is coming

How it currently works that Lounge staff allocate sets for Gold members the day before the flight

This is nice that they do it but like yourself I always got the window seat also. What I did was talk with CS in the lounge and they made notes in my profile that I do not like window and I have not been a window allocated since. In fact I get 3D pre allocated around 80% of the time

Another thing to note is that if the first time you ask fails try again. I can't count the amount of times where I have been told something can't be done then you ask someone else and all of a sudden it is not a problem!

Yes VA is strange when it comes to providing seating preference.

I have never been able to find a seating preference but my father always seems to get a window and I always seem to get an aisle which is what we both want.

It's there now. Well kind of. Go to "My Preferences" (under "My Account" on the Velocity website) and there you will see "Set Preference".

The italic print says:

"From November 2011 the Virgin Australia group of airlines will endeavour to accommodate your requested seat preference whenever possible. Selected seat preference may not be available on all flights. "

I always get a Window as the default. I'll see if I start getting an Aisle before the November kick-in.
