Cant book F rewards?????

Hi Guys,

Thought you might be able to help me, i have been looking at some F awards between MEL and AKL and want to make the most of one when they start flying the A380 later in the year and when ever i try to book them i get an error.

Is it something to do with my tier or that i am a few thousand points short?

I can see business class saver awards to Europe and get the quote even though i don't have enough points

Any help would be great

Emirates is offering J to F upgrades to NZ for 1 mile. Might be worth buying an Y ticket and using miles to upgrade to J and an extra mile to F, rather than wasting so many miles on an F ticket. Not sure if it would work tho, just trying to justify an impromptu NZ trip with the Mrs.

You can always check how much points are required to get an award on the Skywards website even without logging in. If you are a few thousand points short then you will be unable to book the flight reward but they should tell you this during the booking process (but you have an option of buying more points). Status may affect availability of reward seats.

If the error you are getting is "Sorry, we were temporarily unable to process your request due to a technical problem." this is a really common - and useless - error message regardless of browser so try every now and then if it persists call the Emirates office for assistance.

Sorry but this cannot be done as you can only upgrade to the next cabin and only once, i.e. Y to J or J to F, not Y to J to F. Also stated in the email you need to *purchase* the business class ticket, and a return ticket no less in order to get the upgrade for 1 mile

And status does not affect award seat availability. Best bet is to use ExpertFlyer to check availability prior to jumping on EK.com
