I have made a recent booking on Cathay and I was unable to add my frequent flyer membership on Cathay's website other than asking me to sign up for Cathay's membership which I don't want to do:

Does anyone know how I could have been able to do otherwise to ensure my Qantas FF is added?
Adding my QF FF number is crucial because that would allow me to select seats for free since I am Qantas Platinum.

Thank you!

Strange. When booking after selecting your flight it brings up the passenger information page. Select continue as guest from the pop up box and you then select the QFF program. If you have booked I suspect you will need to call them to get your QFF details addedimage.jpg

I’ve had two CX trips this year. No issue adding QFF details at time of booking. As above, if it’s already ticketed, you’ll probably have to call CX.

Most of the old hacks of going to rj.com or other OW websites generally don’t work anymore.

It has already ticketed and I actually had to issue the ticket with CX using Whatsapp due to their website failed to provide the booking class I wanted.

I booked a CX ticket yesterday on their website and there was no problem at all entering my QFF number. Indeed, if I hadn't done this I couldn't have selected the seats I did..

So I guess you didn't do this when making the booking. Perhaps you should be clearer about how the booking was made.

I actually asked when Whatsapping the agent to buy the ticket and they couldn't add it neither.
I could not buy the ticket from the website because there's no higher booking class available in order for me to earn status credits.

That's very strange. Have you try calling them? I wonder if they have different teams between WhatsApp and Call centres?

I am a Cathay Member and had no trouble adding my QFF number to a Cathay booking. When I tried to enter Mr_maaz to the booking I could not do it until I joined him as a Cathay Member. I wonder if that may help - Join as a Cathay member then try again to add the QFF number to the booking - in the Cathay website.

Ah booking via whatsapp, I guess that's then on the mercy of agent doing the booking. They could in theory stuff it up and then you might be at the mercy of whatever the new system they've implemented is.

Not sure if CX have changed their system backend (relating to the recent reported changes about using different FF #s). But as reported here, we had an odd experience this morning checking in for a CX flight with onward connection with QF to SYD.

The trip was booked as a single QF CR CX whY KTI-HKG // QF J HKG-SYD. Our FF details were in the booking - showing in app/online etc and months ago, I was able to select the first row of whY (extra legroom) on CX without issue.

At checkin we were told “no lounge access” because we were in whY but we were ok in HKG. Which set off alarm bells and I questioned that stating that we’re both OWE.

He asked to see our cards and struggled to get our FF numbers in until I suggested adding a leading zero. Which magically opened lounge access, Group 1 boarding (from 6) and First Class priority bag tags.

So all very strange that QF<->CX weren’t fully sync’d. Never had this issue on multiple trips with mixed CX-QF/AY etc.

But anyone with a six or less digit QFF# should make sure they include the leading zero(s) when entering their FF# into partner systems.
