Cancelling Qatar tickets in the current climate

The Iranian missile strikes against Qatar have understandably made some people very worried.

I assume Qatar has not announced that they will do free refunds or changes, but is that likely to transpire? Can one claim TI? Or if one is too scared to fly through Doha, does one simply have to suck it up and wear the loss without any refund?

Need to read your policy to see what it includes, or excludes.

But unless one of the various governments issues a ‘do not travel’ it might be difficult to claim.

Some policies might allow you to cancel based on a ‘reconsider your need to go’.

First step is always to call the insurance provider and ask them directly what your options are.

The attack was against the US base in Qatar and I believe the Qataries and the US were pre-warned about it, so pretty half-hearted.

Can one claim TI?

TI commonly says no in the case of war, whether declared or not.

If the airline flies and you don’t want to go, then it’s on your own account unless they publish an exemption. US airlines commonly do this so if it drags on you may be lucky.

edit. I just read that Virgin is giving a week of free change or refunds on their Doha flights. That’s not QR of course but you never know.

Half-hearted to you perhaps but I know MANY who are concerned about flying through the region.

Yes, I am one of them. But the fact remains that the Iranians attacked the US airbase not Qatar the country.

Hopefully, I gave you some information about your bookings in TI, but best to read your own policy to get a more precise answer.

I’m scheduled to be flying through Doha next weekend.
