Cancelling Classic Reward seat

This may seem like a silly question, but if I book 2 classic reward seats in the same reservation, can I later cancel just one of the seats? Obviously paying the points to cancel.

yes, they can split the booking and cancel one of the seats.

Yes but in my experience only the passenger can cancel their own ticket (even if you used your points to book and are the travel lead)
 
If there's on option to split the bookings on-line, do that first.

I did exactly that and then cancelled one of the bookings.

All on-line.
