I can't seem to find out what AA charge to cancel an award flight - I can see changes but not cancelling - anyone had any experience as to how easy it is and what it cost
Thanks
From memory AA charge a USD$150 redeposit fee to cancel your award booking and to have your points re-instated.
I also recall that they also refund any taxes paid at the time of booking.
It is easy to cancel an online booking as there is a link on the booking page, other bookings need a phone call but it is an easy process to go through.
Thanks - makes the Qantas 5,000 points look cheap
As indicated it is us$150 for redeposit.I can't seem to find out what AA charge to cancel an award flight - I can see changes but not cancelling - anyone had any experience as to how easy it is and what it cost

As indicated it is us$150 for redeposit.
However, not all may be lost.
if you don't need the miles redeposited just yet, you can change dates as long as origin, destination and award type do not change.
This can be done for travel up to 1 year from original ticketing date.
IF there is a significant schedule change in the meantime (90+ minutes) then you can cancel, getting a full refund with no fee payable.
