Cancelled o/s trip. Do I earn points/cashback on a (non-refundable) hotel room if I don’t stay there?

Thanks to Qatar Airways cancelling my flights out of Canberra at short notice, I’ve decided to cancel my trip to Germany next week. All hotel/train bookings were fully refundable fortunately, except for a one-night non-refundable booking at Mövenpick Hamburg. If I’m going to lose my money on that booking, I wouldn’t mind at least getting the Accor points for the night (not to mention the 10% Cashrewards cashback). If the hotel offers electronic check-in, I guess I can check in from Aus and that might be sufficient. Or might I receive points regardless? I’d happily cancel the booking on their website (even without a refund) so they can sell the room to someone else, but I’m worried that would make it less likely I’d get points credited. Yes, I know it’s only a few points/dollars, but it’s also about learning for next time (and the time after that, sigh…). I’d really appreciate advice on this.

Sorry to hear, were you booked on a revenue or award fare?

Accor online check-in still requires you to go to the counter to pick up your keys and swipe your CC as a bond. I don't think you'll be able to earn points, but you might get your cashback - check the cashback T&C.

Presumably you have some form of travel insurance through your credit card? I imagine it should reimburse you for non-refundable costs arising from a cancellation like this.

Quick response, thanks, though doesn't sound promising re points. I've never claimed on travel insurance before, will look into that (via amex platinum).

(Was revenue fare. It's a bit off topic for the Accor forum, and there's a bit of discussion on this on the Qatar/Qantas forums, but - Qatar cancelled all flights out of CBR and re-booked those affected out of Melbourne instead. Well, that's 600 km away and I decided to just cancel and do something else instead).
