Cancel UA Miles redemption

Just regarding UA miles booking - I have a redemption booking for 2 but one can't make the trip due to a new job.

Does anyone know if UA refunds miles? I assume I would be able to split the booking into separate PNR's and cancel one?

Yes, miles will get refunded if you cancel a booking, but you may have to pay a fee if you're not Platinum or above.

They can split the booking into separate PNR's if it's on UA metal, otherwise you will have to cancel the entire booking and rebook. I found this out when I tried to do a similar thing recently.

My brother has made the booking using his miles so I guess I'm going to have to ask him to do it for me as I have a MEL - LAX on UA then a LAX-ICN-SGN on OZ
