A Canadian woman has been sent home after she tried to sneak her cat into New Zealand in a handbag.
The woman only declared that she had dirty boots in her luggage and did not mention her feline friend when she arrived at Auckland Airport from Vancouver on Wednesday.
Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) manager Craig Hughes says she only confessed to carrying the cat when MPI staff attempted to x-ray her baggage.

How did Canadian security miss it?

Clearly the cat was drugged.

Id support a life ban on this person from entering NZ again.

This was no accident.

How did Canadian security miss it?

I checked the Air Canadia website, carriage of pets is permitted in the cabin on most flights except for some international business class cabins (herringbone).

Perhaps no reason for security to stop it?

Come, come! Surely this is old news? I think they even made a movie about it ... "Puss in Boots" with, uhm, Antonio Banderas I believe!

Where's Princess Fiona when she's needed? ;)

travelling with pet "service animal" is not unusual in North america even in international flights - canada - usa usually.

Sure - but you would expect such a critter to be declared, not drugged or hidden from view.
