Can you book an award flight for more than one person at once?

Hi,
I would like to know if you can book an award flight for more than one person at a time.

My Mum is giving me enough points to fly to London return next Jan/Feb with her but can only transfer 100k annually as you are all aware I'm sure. She transferred me the 100k last week to book one way premium economy.

So since she can't transfer any more points for another year I might have to take the trip and then take a chance on return dates (and flight class).

So instead we are wondering if when she books her award flight there can she book a ticket for me at the same time? That way I can book my return flight with the points that are in my FF account and we don't have to worry about the transfer next January. Also this means she and I will be on the same flight there for sure.

Thanks in advance for any replies. Sorry if this was longwinded!!

Hello babysun and welcome to AFF.

Yes you can book more than one award seat at the same time providing there are enough award seats available on that flight. I am not certain but I think you can book for up to 9 adults at the same time.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Hey babysun....welcome to AFF!

In short...my experience with Qantas on line award booking is that if you select more than two and you are looking for business class seats you have very little chance of getting anything.

However, one or two in economy should be OK as long as you book well in advance.

Just keep trying and dont give up!:p

I recently booked award seats for my wife and 2 children (all adults for the purposes of air tickets) at the same time using my QFF points, via the Qantas FF website. I then booked myself separately on the same flights using Flying Blue (Air France) miles, and phoned Qantas to associate the 2 bookings.

Thanks for your answers. I thought you could. I have booked a flight to Fiji next month for my husband, our baby and myself but couldn't recall if there was any rule about who the other passenger/s could be.

Thanks for your welcomes to AFF too!

When you fill in the passengers details, there is a drop down asking the relationship to you, and there is a whole list. Over the years I was amazed to discover how many "cousins" i have! ;)

You would give away your points ??? man i make my girlfriend family transfer the points for her last upgrade to me (I requested as higher status)
Arn't i nice ;)

I guess millions of FF points is like winning lotto, you suddenly become popular, my advise dont mention how many you have and when people even at work say well you must have thousands of points now i just srug it off and say, nah, all discount economy you really don't get many.

For rewards...I have only ever redeemed for a minimum of 4pax at a time, but mainly 5.

I use my points for family holidays, and on occassion if I was working away to have my wife and 3 daughters join me.

Tickets these days are only international, but use to be domestic (but then again one used to be able to to Melbourne-Hamilton Island-Sydney-Alice Spirings-Melb for only 30,000 points..and business domestic I think was only 25% more)

Redemptions have mainly been economy...though back in the Ansett days sometimes Business (but I was also Platinum back then).

I apologise if I have not understood this statement but there have been changes where it is not the status of person requesting the upgrade that counts but rather the status of the passenger when determining the priority in allocating an upgrade.

So if you are a QF Platinum and your girlfriend is QF Bronze and you request an upgrade for her from your account at say T-90 days then she may go to the top of the list for QF Bronze. So anyone with higher status than her requesting an upgrade much later will get a higher priority.
