Can we find the owner of this camera?

Seriously, that is not the most sensible think I've seen on the internet. They need to contact this group that are really good with looking after lost property and finding the owner. They are called the police! No doubt the owner has reported it missing and the police probably already have their address.

Hasn't this already happened with another camera? Oh I'm thinking of a thread I read about on Whirlpool - link.
Hi all.

This thread will provide updates on my attempts to recover my beloved 5D MK II after it was lost/stolen from me in March 2009 using the website Stolen Camera Finder - find your photos, find your camera and the resources of three state police departments.

Each camers adds unique EXIF data to each photo file that can be traced, unless of course its been wiped (which is easy to do if you have the right knowledge)

I have already contacted the police at Victor Harbor, they will get back to me if someone has reported it missing, was just hoping to try all options.

I think this is great - I have tweeted for a re-tweet @gordon_noble67

Thank you for a touch of humanity Rachel Cunliffe

Thanks - I just know that if it was my camera I'd be devastated at losing all those photos. My Aunt once left her camera with all her trip photos in it in a taxi on the way to the airport, she was heartbroken :(

Been there done that, in NYC of all places left it in a taxi and the pax that caught the cab after me alerted the driver to it, thankfully the driver remembered where I was staying and got in touch with me at the hotel and arangements were made to return the Camera.
For his troubles the Cab driver got a reward fee, and a booking to JFK the next day.

good on you!!

Hope it finds its owner.

I left a brand new (bought duty free that morning) on a table in a cafe in Auckland. Went back 4 hours later and they had it out the back. Put a large tip in the tip jar.

Last year Mr jojen & I were walking down Barkston Gardens Road, Earls Court when he picked up a camera on the road. Had a good look around to see if we could see anyone that it belonged to without success.

Took it back to our apartment and I looked at some photos on it and worked out that it belonged to one of the two women in some of the photos. Decided to go for a walk down where we found it and after the 3rd hotel the receptionist recognized one of the women who had checked in about the time we found the camera.

Reunited with one very happy American lady who thought it had fallen out of her bag when she was paying taxi driver, but did not even know she had lost it !!!!!

Thank you spudseamus. We did feel happy that we were able to find the owner. I know how I would feel if I had lost my camera with my photos on it.

I also found a very large sum of money in Cairns recently at the door of our hotel and was able to find the owner of that !!!! I notifed the front desk that I had found it and asked them to contact me if someone enquired about losing money. A very happy young Japanese girl !!!!
