im thinking of doing a run to sydney or somewhere close by as i need 4 more sectors flown to get to plat, am taking a trip to usa in dec just before all of my sc will expire so it works out nicely (that will be 2 more sectors as melb - la then vegas to nyc on delta, which im assuming will be 2 sectors?) however i am wanting to know in regards to sectors flown, im going back to usa in feb also (all going well as plat) both ways are melb - bris - la so would that be 4 sectors flown on a return trip? just trying to work it out. hoping to get to plat and then manage to maintain it

As long as different flight numbers with VA as the marketing airline and otherwise eligible to earn points/SC's then each would count as an "eligible sector".

so is the delta flight applicable? it was purchased directly through delta so not a va as it was within the usa, it is eligible for sc and points so??

The DL flight should earn VFF SC and points but will not count as an eligible sector for status attainment (1 of the 8 VA sectors required for WP).
