My son is flying from Oslo to Paris tonight on SK and has asked me whether he can transfer the points to either Qantas or Virgin, maybe through a third airlines' loyalty scheme, which has no joining fee. I don't have any idea.

I don't think you'd be able to transfer points to Qantas or Virgin. Perhaps you may be able to transfer somewhere via points.com but generally very poor conversion rates.

I don't think SAS credits to Qantas anymore but it could be possible to credit the flight to a KrisFlyer account and from there transfer to Velocity.

For the relatively small number of FF points involved I don't think it is worth the effort.

Thanks, JohnK. That was what I hoped may be possible.

My son and his fiancee have a number of flights around Europe, yesterday's flight wasn't the only one. I'm sorry; I should have made that clear.

OK, if several flights are involved then it might be useful to look at the various airline alliances of which the carrier(s) are members, and try to stick to only airlines who are members of a specific alliance.
