Can Points Earning From Platinum Edge Be Credited Into a Platinum's Ascent Premium MR Account?

Hi AFF,

I've been using Platinum since 2016 and have a Platinum Reserve as companion card.

Now I'm looking at the Platinum Edge which can earn 3x points from Woolies, Ampol etc. Wonder if the points earned from Edge can be credited into Platinum's Ascent Premium MR account, so I can transfer it to QFF?

Remembered there was a discussion (back in the time), an Edge can be linked as an companion card to Platinum and then the points earned from the Edge will be treated as the Platinum's Ascent Premium one?

Have asked the support chat, they say "it is possible", "earning rate and redemption rate are two different things", "Ascent points can be transferred to Ascent Premium then be used based on Ascent Premium's term". If anyone has experience on this? Thanks!

I recall the same thread, but can't find it. I remember results being mixed too. I vaguely remember that you can move them over manually on request as this is a known process for people upgrading to the plat, but they may not earn straight into ascent premium. Maybe worth a try and report back?

I have a Platinum Charge and a Platinum Edge. Upon receiving the Platinum Edge I called AmEx and asked for all my points to be consolidated and it was done immediately. All my spending on my Platinum Edge now earns Ascent Premium points which are consolidated into the one points account.

It's doable, but it's messy when they get it wrong. After multiple calls a couple of years back, they managed to get it done... but wiped close to a million existing points in the process. Naturally, requiring one final phone call to advise they could recredit the points their poorly trained staff had deleted or they could give me the contact details of their legal department. Be prepared for a lot of annoyance and the likelihood that you may lose access to your existing points for a couple of weeks if they stuff it up.

There are only two main reasons to bother, these days - if you want to be able to convert to Qantas (only possible from Ascent Premium), or if you transfer to Emirates as you can only have Skywards attached to one Australian MR account - unless they fixed that restriction with their recent outage and upgrades.
